Understanding Contract Statuses
This article explains what each contract status means in MonetizeNow.
Contract Status Definitions
- **ACTIVE **- Any contract that isn't pending, finished, or canceled. This includes:
- Contracts that are currently running between start and end dates
- Future-dated contracts (even if they haven't started yet)
- Contracts that have passed their end date but still have outstanding invoices
**PENDING **- Reserved for renewals where there is a prior contract on the same bill group that is currently active
**FINISHED **- All invoicing has been generated for the contract and you are in the final month or past the contract end date
**CANCELED **- The contract has been canceled and all required invoicing has been generated
Common Reasons Why Contracts Show as Active
- Outstanding Invoices
Contracts will remain "Active" even after their end date if there are still unpaid or their are pending invoices (common for contracts that contain products billed in arrears). The contract status will only change to "Finished" once all outstanding balances are settled.
- Future-Dated Contracts
New contracts (not renewals) will show as "Active" immediately upon creation, even if their start date is in the future. This is different from renewals, which show as "Pending" until billing processes.
- Manual Renewals Processed as New Quotes
When a renewal is processed as a "new quote" using the Manual Renewal feature, instead of a standard/early renewal, it will show as "Active" immediately rather than "Pending", even if the start date is in the future.
