Discounts

Onetime Discount Products allow sales teams to apply fixed, onetime discounts to a quote without manually adjusting prices on individual products.

Common scenarios where sales reps want to apply a discount, include:

• Offer a fixed competitive replacement discount (e.g., $5,000 off)
• Reduce a quote to stay under a specific total (i.e. lowering a $62,000 quote to $58,000)

Creating a Onetime Discount Product

Create a Product in the Product Catalog

A new Product Type, “Onetime Discount”, is now available.

Add a Onetime Discount Product to an Offering

When adding a Onetime Discount product to an Offering and configuring a Rate, the ‘Pricing Model’ will automatically default to ‘Custom’. The Custom pricing model allows reps to enter the discount amount during the quoting process.

Use a Onetime Discount product on a Quote

When a Onetime Discount product is used on a Quote, the system automatically applies negative pricing and generates a credit note for each discount product quote item (instead of creating negative line items on the invoice).

Quoting a Onetime Discount Product

1. Create a new product intended for discounts or credits by selecting the Onetime Discount product type.
2. Add the product to an offering.
   1. The Offering Type must be ‘Subscription’ or ‘Onetime’.
3. Create a new quote.
   1. Select at least one offering that includes a Onetime Discount product.
      1. Enter the desired discount amount.
4. Submit the quote.
   1. If the Quote includes other products and invoices are auto-generated upon processing of the Quote, an Invoice is created for all quote items excluding the Onetime Discount product.
   2. Additionally, a Credit Note is generated for each Onetime Discount product. Credit Notes are automatically applied to generated invoices until the credit amount is fully utilized.
      1. If the discount amount exceeds the first invoice, the remaining balance is retained and can be applied to a future invoice for the same bill group.
      2. If the invoice amount exceeds the discount, the full discount is applied towards the invoice.

Considerations

• If an amendment is made to a Quote which removes a Onetime Discount product from the Quote, the Credit Note is voided.
