How Usage-Based Product Pricing Appears in Salesforce

MonetizeNow supports full quote and pricing sync with Salesforce, including support for usage-based products like overages, API calls, or seat-based consumption. However, due to the nature of usage billing, you may notice some differences in how these products appear inside Salesforce, especially compared to flat-fee or recurring products.

This guide explains how it works, why it works this way, and where to find your usage pricing.

⚠️ It’s normal to see $0 in Salesforce on quote lines for usage products, especially tiered ones. This avoids misrepresenting pricing before actual usage occurs.

How to View Usage Pricing in Salesforce

Usage pricing lives in the Rate record, linked from each Quote Item. Here are the steps to find it:

  • Open the Quote Item: From the Opportunity or Quote screen, scroll to the Quote Line Items section and click into the usage item you’re reviewing.
  • Locate the “Rate” Field: Inside the Quote Item, find the Rate field, this will contain the name (e.g., “Tier 2”) as a clickable link to the actual Rate record.
  • View Rate Prices (Tier Details): Once you’re inside the Rate record, scroll to the Related List for Rate Prices. Here, you’ll find all tiers defined for that rate, including:
    • Quantity ranges (Min/Max)
    • Unit price per tier
    • Charge frequency (monthly, annually)

This gives you a full breakdown of how pricing is structured, even if it’s not displayed directly on the quote item.

MonetizeNow handles usage-based products with clarity and flexibility. While usage pricing doesn’t flatten into quote line fields (for good reason), everything is still accessible via the Rate object. You’ll find the full pricing model, including tiers, ranges, and unit prices, all available within Salesforce when you know where to look.
